FEDERAL GRANT RESOURCES "For additional nonprofit grants see the Nonprofits section of this site Small Business Government Contracting The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments. http://grants.gov/applicants/find_grant_opportunities.jsp Grants.gov simplifies
the grants management process and creates a centralized, online process to
find and apply for over 900 grant programs from the 26 Federal
grant-making agencies. Grants.gov streamlines the process of awarding over
$360 billion annually to state and local governments, academia,
not-for-profits and other organizations. This program is one of the 24
Federal cross-agency E-Government initiatives focused on improving access
to services via the Internet. The vision for Grants.gov is to be a simple,
unified source to electronically find, apply and manage grant
opportunities.
Many state development agencies offer direct small business grants and other types of financial assistance designed to encourage and assist entrepreneurs in starting or expanding a small business. Also remember that the federal government, through the SBA, does offer a fine array of very attractive loans to start or expand a small business. |
